My thoughts:

This book contained witty, sarcastic, laugh-out-loud entertainment for me. I was repeatedly stopping and re-reading lines to my other half to see if he laughed as much as me. He didn't. But I told him he had to be into the book. 

This is my second John Green book. I loved each of them on different levels and I'm so glad that they are completely different stories. I appreciate Quentin's consistent dedication to Margo even though she clearly wanted nothing to do with him for years.

As he embarks on this journey from Orlando to New York, he only is faced with more questions. Pick this one up as a quick read with an entertaining couple of characters.

My thoughts:

I think that I'm probably the only one in the entire world who didn't have this as required reading in school at any point. I honestly didn't even know it existed until the movie was announced. Shameful, I know. But as soon as I heard about it, I ordered it off Amazon quickly and devoured it within an hour.

Parts of it legitimately made me rage. Parts of it made me smile.

During the ceremony of twelve's Jonas is singled out & asked if he is strong enough to be the "Receiver of Memories". This is a role that is only for one person who eventually becomes the new Giver once the current one is Released. Jonas accepts this role and is required to receive training from The Giver.

The book explains the journey that Jonas goes on through the memories that he is provided with. Living in a world where is there is no color, murder, pain (etc.) he doesn't understand why the community won't allow people to have memories of the past.

Jonas embarked on a journey of trying to get everyone memories of the past back because there are more amazing things out there.

This book was so-so for me. Therefore, I gave it 3 stars. I wish it was longer.
