This series contains 3 books: Set Me Free (The Evans Trilogy #1), Open My Eyes (The Evans Trilogy #2) and Bring Me Back (The Evans Trilogy #3). Jennifer Collin's Evans Trilogy has been a runaway success in the UK, and US audiences are quickly discovering it's charm. The third and final book in the series has just been released. By Jennifer Collin

Genre: Chick Lit/ Romance/ Women’s Fiction
Age category: Adult
Release Date: 6 February, 2015

Blurb:
Andy Evans is on the move. For six long, lonely years, he’s been running from his past, leaving his family and his life as a drug-addicted rock star far behind. His latest move takes him to the sleepy seaside town of Oamaru, New Zealand, to sell cigar-box guitars to tourists. The only running he’ll need to do will be training for half-marathon in nearby Dunedin. But when Andy sets eyes on Steampunk HQ, Oamaru's main tourist attraction, he realises his days of running might not be over, especially if a certain Steampunk fan from his past catches up with him.

Annie Martin is on the cusp of great success. Her career as a Steampunk academic is about to take off, as long as she can convince one disagreeable, New Zealand-based Professor to sign up to the anthology she’s putting together. Thankfully, Annie is a master at maintaining her poise and few people, no matter how nasty, can rattle her. Not any more. In fact, it’d been a good six years since anyone had gotten under her skin, after her best friend’s brother had vanished into thin air.

When Annie finds her future career on a collision course with her secret past, Andy Evans is the last person she expects to find tangled up in the mess. With a vengeful drug-dealer or two hot on his heels, and a vindictive academic determined to ruin her credibility, can Annie bring Andy back to his family before it’s too late? Annie and Andy are used to being alone, but if they don’t work together, there’ll be much more at stake than her livelihood and his sobriety.

Bring Me Back

EXCERPT
‘You’ll be able to play that one day if you keep practising,’ David told him when he set the guitar down.
‘Do you think so?’
‘I do.’
‘I think my mum’s here,’ Genjii said, looking towards the door that led to the shopfront.
‘Is she? I didn’t hear the bell.’
‘She came in while you were playing.’
Guitar case in hand, Genjii led David through to the front of the shop. On the other side of the door, he stopped unexpectedly, and David crashed into him.
‘I guess it’s not your mum,’ David murmured, taking in the woman staring at the row of cigar box guitars on the wall. Another Steampunk freak, come to check out Oamaru’s famous HQ. David’s heart began to pick up speed. A handful of them had wandered in since he’d been in the shop and they’d put him on edge every time.
From behind at least, this one wore her Steampunk well; the corset cinching her waist rounded her hips nicely. Her long skirts brushed the floor. Unlike the others, who’d always seemed uncomfortable in their costumes, this one looked like she belonged in Victorian England. This one stirred memories of the Steampunk freak he’d left in his past, the one he didn’t want to see again. He shook his head and reminded himself the probability was low. Six months. He was only here for six months.
Then the woman turned around.
David’s heart stopped. His heart, which hammered constantly these days, even when he wasn’t running or remembering, just stopped beating. The rumble of his thoughts, the white noise he was never able to clear, fell into silence.
The woman froze, staring at him, brow gradually puckering. David knew he was staring back, but he was unable to tear his eyes away. It felt like minutes passed, but it must have been only seconds, before she stepped towards him.

‘Andy?’ she said. It came out in a gasp. Her chest rose and fell in short bursts, and the colour drained from her face. She swallowed. ‘Is it you?’

Genre: Chick Lit/ Romance/ Women’s Fiction
Age category: Adult

Blurb:
Everything happens for a reason, they say. And sometimes the reason is you're stupid and make bad decisions. Sleeping with her sister's best friend is one of the dumbest things soon-to-be divorcee Emily Evans has ever done. But she's determined to put it behind her and move on. She's walked away from her cheating husband, managed to make a new friend, and found herself a real job and somewhere to live so she doesn't have to couch-surf any more. Everything should be falling into place but for one problem – there are some mistakes from which you can't move on.

Meanwhile, Ben Cameron is getting on with his life. After all, it's the only thing to do once your heart has been stomped on by the woman of your dreams. Expanding his business and getting cosy with the girl next door are proving welcome distractions. He's even happy to babysit his nephew, as long as he can to hand him back when he's done! And thankfully, Emily Evans, the woman with the heavy boots, is avoiding him like the plague.

But Emily can't avoid him forever, and when she drops a bombshell that turns Ben's world upside-down, suddenly, getting on with his life takes on a whole new meaning.

(The Alliance series #1) by Emma L. Adams.
This cover reveal is organized by Lola's Blog Tours.

ADAMANT final front coverAdamant (The Alliance Series #1)
By Emma L. Adams
Genre: Contemporary Fantasy
Age category: Adult
Release Date: 11 March 2015

Blurb:
On an alternative 21st-century Earth in which our world is one of many in the Multiverse, the Inter-World Alliance exists to keep the peace between the worlds, and keep the monsters out.

Ada Fletcher is twenty-one, keeps a collection of knives in her room, and is more interested in fighting than her day job as a cashier. She also risks her life on a daily basis, helping refugees from a devastating magical war on her homeworld hide on the low-magic Earth. But when she’s taken into custody by the Alliance, her unusual magic makes her a prime suspect for a supervisor’s suspicious death.

For Kay Walker, whose family founded the organization, there has never been any doubt that his future is with the Alliance – even if it means dealing with sarcastic centaurs and dangerous monsters in the dark Passages between worlds. But when his supervisor is murdered, Kay discovers that a research project might have been the reason, and faces the choice of whether to ignore his instincts or risk becoming the next target, not to mention digging into the Alliance’s history and memories he’d rather keep buried. And there’s something not quite right about the strange, fierce girl he arrested as a suspect.

The last thing Ada wants is to help the infuriating Alliance guard who arrested her, but it soon becomes clear that the Alliance knows too much about Ada’s offworld origins. More, in fact, than she knows herself. Now she has to choose between loyalty to her family, and helping the Alliance save the Earth – and the Multiverse – from a deadly enemy.

Emma AdamsAbout the Author:
Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing speculative fiction. She was born in Birmingham, UK, which she fled at the first opportunity to study English Literature at Lancaster University. In her three years at Lancaster, she hiked up mountains, skydived in Australia, and endured a traumatic episode involving a swarm of bees in the Costa Rican jungle. She also entertained her creative writing group and baffled her tutors by submitting strange fantasy tales featuring dragons and supernatural monsters to workshops. These included her first publication, a rather bleak dystopian piece, and a disturbing story about a homicidal duck (which she hopes will never see the light of day).

Now a reluctant graduate, Emma refuses to settle down and be normal. When not embarking on wild excursions and writing fantasy novels, she edits and proofreads novels for various publishing houses and reads an improbable number of books. Emma is currently working on the Alliance series, a multiple-universe adult fantasy featuring magic, monsters, cool gadgets and sarcasm. Her upper-YA urban fantasy Darkworld series is published by Curiosity Quills Press.

EXCERPT
Garrett’s grumbling teammates filed out of the pre-game meeting, followed by the coaches and Heather’s father. Garrett, however, remained in his seat, watching the lithe young woman as she stood by the door.
At last she turned to him.
We meet again. Garrett, right?”
He stood and strode to the door. When he stopped, her eyes widened, caution swimming in their depths.
You mentioned having individual meetings,” he said, keeping his voice even, hiding the irritation shimmering through him. “I thought we’d have ours now.”
She blinked up at him, and her lips moved. Though he strained to hear, he couldn’t make out what she’d said.
I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that.”
A bright pink suffused her cheeks, and he forced himself not to notice how pretty the color made her.
I said that I haven’t finished my notes for you yet. I’ll watch you pitch tomorrow. We’ll meet after that.”
He had to give it to her. Soft-spoken or not, she had a direct way about her. He didn’t doubt that she could lead…just not professional baseball players. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I’m requesting to be released from my contract. This isn’t the right place for me to advance in my career.”
Her mobile face stilled. “And why would that be?”
Look, I’ll be blunt.” He tapped his fingers on the sides of his legs. “This team isn’t hustling, and it’ll be a long time before they come around to supporting you. Things will get worse instead of better. I have a limited window of opportunity to advance. Given these factors, my bottom-line pitching won’t look good with a losing team behind me. I’d like to help you, but selfishly, this is my last shot.”
A speculative gleam entered her eyes. “So you’re asking to be released because you think I can’t help you reach your goals.”
A long breath rushed out of him. She was going to be reasonable. “That’d be great. Thank you.”
She arched an eyebrow. “You’re wrong, and I’ll be as frank with you as you were with me.”
His relief turned to irritation. So she wasn’t going to make this easy. He held his tongue and waited to hear her out.
I think you’re overvaluing yourself.” She nodded when his mouth dropped open. Guys talked this way to each other. Not women…especially not pretty women…to him.
Your control isn’t where it should be, and if that's not addressed, you'll also be another reason why this team isn’t doing well. But you have potential, and I can help you.”
Right,” he scoffed. What could a softball pitcher do for him? “No offense, but I need someone with more experience.”
She tapped her chin and angled her head, her eyes flashing up at him. “If I can change your mind about that, will you drop your request and give me your support and a hundred percent effort?”
He held in a laugh. Was she for real? There wasn’t a chance she could change his decision. “What do you have in mind?”
She stepped closer, and her subtle citrus scent curled beneath his nose.
A contest. If I get more strikes out of twenty pitches than you do, you stay. If you have more, then I’ll release you.”
He stared at her. Processing. She couldn’t be serious. Sure, he had control issues, but he was still better than a college-level player. She was making this easy. But if she was foolish enough to offer him this out, he’d take it.
They eyed each other for a long, tense moment before he jerked his chin at her.
You’re on.”

10's List
Technological and/or Medical Advancements you’d like to see in your lifetime

Firstly, I’d just like to say that this is an awesome topic, and I’d like to thank Ashley for setting me such a cool challenge. Writing this list has been very thought-provoking, and involved some interesting debate in the Davis’ household! When you start thinking about technological and medical advancements, it is amazing to realize how much society has, and will, achieve over the course of one person’s lifetime. Awe-inspiring. Here is my ten cents worth:

10. Self-drive cars with centralized tracking systems: This one is the easiest to predict, and we are already moving towards this goal. Think no more taxi’s (sorry taxi drivers – I think it is time to start retraining), no need for designated drivers and no restrictions on bringing your car with you on a night out.

9. Early medical detection: In True Calling being supremely healthy is of vital concern to the new government, to ensure the continuation of humanity. Medicets (specialist robots) and the Vita chip implants monitor individual health on a daily basis. This is something I’d like to see in my lifetime, as there is so much needless suffering that could be prevented. There’s no question that breakthroughs in genetic engineering will help us treat or eliminate a whole range of diseases in the future.

8. Fingerprint and Retinal ID as standard to help eliminate identity theft and remove the need for cash and credit cards when shopping.

7. Everyone is a Fashion Designer: Customizable computer programmes that allow us to create our own clothing range; that would be pretty cool, right? Imagine you could log into your computer and plug in what you want - colour, material, texture, style, size. Uploading your image would enable you to view how the end product will look. Then you just click a button, and your design is manufactured and shipped.

6. Family Robots will become the new family pets, only much more useful as they attend to our needs, rather than the other way around. I am already salivating at the prospect of more time to write, and never having to clean the oven/shower/toilet again.

5. Automated exercise: I’d like to be around when they develop a machine/robot/computer that exercises my body while I sleep. You are starting to see a pattern here, yeah? It’s not that I’m lazy, more that I aspire to be lazy—so I can sit at my desk transcribing the stories from my head, and not have to worry about anything else in my life because modern day living already takes care of that.

4. Targeted Medical Programmes: Individual genetic code is harnessed to customize medical programmes that a) cure individual illnesses and b) help prevent genetic illness passing from generation to generation.

3. Extend our lifetimes: Stem cell research is apparently making great progress, and it is quite possible that we will be able to increase our lifespan. I’d like to be around to meet my great-great grandchildren, but only if this life extension programme can also halt the aging process. Because who’d want to look at a 150-year-old face otherwise?

2. Commercial space travel: I really want to holiday beyond this world, and I can think of nothing more incredible than looking down at Earth as we rocket to our 5-star holiday village in outer space. Epic.

1. Eat all you want without gaining weight: I am pinning all my hopes on this one!! He, he!! I am hopeful that some super drug will be created, or genetic modification programme developed, which allows me to stuff my face and remain a skinny-minnie at the same time. Super shallow, I know, but I am nothing if not honest.

Blurb:
These days, finding love online is as commonplace as ordering that coveted sweater. But back in 2003, the whole concept of Internet dating was still quite new, with a stigma attached to it that meant those who were willing to test the waters faced a fair amount of skepticism from friends and family.

Such is the case for Chloe Thompson, a restless 20-something tired of the typical dating scene and curious about what she might find inside her parents’ computer. With two serious but failed relationships behind her, Chloe isn’t even entirely sure what she’s looking for. She just knows that whatever it is, she wants to find it.

Based loosely on author K. J. Farnham’s real-life online dating experiences, Chloe’s foray into online dating involves a head-first dive into a world of matches, ice breakers and the occasional offer of dick pics, all while Chloe strives to shake herself of the ex who just refuses to disappear. Will she simultaneously find herself and “the one” online, or will the ever-growing pile of humorous and downright disastrous dates only prove her friends and family right? There’s only one way to find out…

EXCERPT
There’s not much of a crowd at Starbucks. I suppose coffee is not the drink of choice for most people on a Friday night. I decide to hold off on placing my order and wait for Packer Fan. Even though I know his name is Patrick, I can’t stop thinking of him as Packer Fan, or Packer Fan Patrick. Maybe it has something to do with the close-up of him with a green and yellow face. I’m willing to bet that his body was probably painted as well. It’s kind of crazy that we’re meeting in person without even talking on the phone first, but Packer Fan Patrick kind of reminds me of an old high school friend who was always the life of the party and always had people rolling with laughter. In my response to the three messages he had sent, I asked about his profile pictures, which all appeared to have been taken at Packers games. He responded by detailing his lifelong history as a Packer fan. It all started when he was three . . . Three paragraphs later, he explained that his recently deceased grandfather left him and his brother season tickets. I couldn’t help but laugh at the way he used ten exclamation points at the end of a sentence that mentioned his dead grandfather.
I take a seat at a table near the window so I can watch for Packer Fan Patrick. Just as I’m getting comfortable, my chair begins to shake.
Boo!” Someone continues to jiggle my chair back and forth.
Startled, I grip my seat, one hand on each side, and look over my shoulder to see Patrick grinning maniacally. “Okay, okay. Where did you come from?” I grin, trying to hide my unease.
Before I’m able to turn back around, he scurries to the other side of the table. Instead of sitting across from me, he picks a chair up with one hand, plops it down next to me, and takes a seat.
He laughs boisterously and extends a hand. “Chloe! Good to meet you!”
Nice to meet you, too. I didn’t think you were here yet.” I say. I am genuinely smiling now—partly because his friendly demeanor is contagious but also because of his outfit. Patrick is wearing a Packer sweatshirt with green and gold Zubaz pants. As if that isn’t enough to show his fan spirit, he is also wearing yellow sneakers with green Nike emblems. I wonder if he dressed this way to be funny or if he wears Packers apparel all the time.
Ha!” He slaps his knee and points toward the back, near the bathrooms. “I was sitting at that table over there. I thought it would be funny to sneak up on you.” He laughs hysterically and slaps his knee again.
People are starting to stare. Maybe Patrick is a bit too energetic for Starbucks.
Good one. You really got me,” I say, smiling politely. “Do you want coffee?”
Nah. I don’t drink coffee. Makes me jittery.” He holds his hands out in front of him and makes them shake as he speaks. At this point, I wonder if he might be on something.
Okay. Well, I’m going to get a coffee. Do you want . . .”
He jumps out of his seat and says, “Come on. Coffee’s on me.”
By the time I grab my purse and get to the counter, Packer Fan Patrick is already talking to the barista. “. . . half skim, half whole, extra whip, with an extra shot of espresso.”
Did you say grande?” she asks.
Patrick bursts into laughter. “I’m just messin’ with you! You’re good though. Really good,” he says as he shakes a finger at her.
She frowns. “Well, is there anything I can get for you?”
Patrick continues laughing, oblivious to the barista’s irritation. “I’ll take a hot chocolate. And whatever this little lady is having.” He gestures toward me.

I give her a weak smile and hope that she doesn’t spit in our drinks.

Katie Sawyer has spent the past three and a half years cultivating the perfect UCLA experience. She has the perfect boyfriend: a football star. She has the perfect social life: she's President of Delta Gamma. But her perfect best friend, Chelsea, just drowned. Worse, the body tumbled out of the closet in Professor Griffin's chem lab.

Katie's fairy-tale façade hides a past she would like to forget, but Chelsea's death brings every old emotion to the surface. If she's going to move on from her hurts, Katie has to pull her not-so-perfect self together and search out the identity of Chelsea’s killer, even if it means turning to Josh Hunter for help. It's not easy. Josh infuriates her. Once upon a time, they were next door neighbors and best friends. They were confidants. They were even teenagers fumbling and exploring each other in the dark. He knew everything about her. He owned her heart. That was before things changed.

Now, secrets are surfacing. Chelsea was seeing someone. And she was pregnant when she died. Katie must come to terms with Chelsea’s other life…and face the fact that she has some secrets of her own. Even if it means letting the past--and Josh Hunter--back into her life.

A college Clueless meets Veronica Mars, Kristin Halbrook's new adult mystery is full of sexy romance and twists that will keep you guessing until the end.

Excerpt:
I was six. Summer. A hot one. I spent every day outdoors, back and forth between my house and my neighbor, Josh’s. I stopped, one time, on the path between our houses, the one with the spaced pavers, squatting, gathering a bunch of his mom’s poppies, until I felt tickles on my legs. Scurries and stops. I looked down; my feet and legs were covered in red ants.
I said nothing, didn’t move, my fear and surprise shocking me into stillness. Until Josh came around the corner. He saw my legs, the ants that would bite, bite, bite. The scared girl. “Don’t move,” he said. “They won’t bite if you don’t move.”
He ran off, but in that moment, the ants were real and I was real and my skin was real and vulnerable and going to be eaten completely.
I screamed. Screamed and writhed and the ants poked and pinched at my feet and legs and hands as I swiped at them. Josh came back with the hose and sprayed me down as I danced and screamed. Then he held my hand and sat by me as I cried while my mom rubbed medicated lotion on my skin.

Things felt different this side of campus. After all, the last time Chelsea was seen was at a frat party. Police cars were parked at intervals along the road. They talked with guys coming out of their houses, making notes on little notepads. My chest clenched as I realized the killer could be one of them. A cold rush of fear dashed through my veins. Why had I come over here alone? I stopped in front of the Triangle House, prepared to turn back, but paused.
I only knew one person in the Engineering, Science and Architecture frat: Josh. Just as I thought his name, the Triangle door opened and a tall, slenderly muscled boy strode out like he hadn’t a care in the world. He stopped at the top of the steps when he saw me standing on the sidewalk, his expression composed. His hazel eyes flickered in the sunlight. He hitched his backpack up his shoulder, his fitted tee bunching up slightly to reveal the bottom of his toned abs.
Abs I knew well. A body that had, once upon a time, made mine sing. Whose touch sent shivers down my spine and woke up all my senses. I took an involuntary step forward. If he noticed the way he still affected me, after all these years, he didn’t let on. He came down the stairs, said a quick, “Hey, Katie,” and brushed past me.
So much for the kid with the hose.

NA Author Photo Kristin HalbrookAbout the Author:
When she was little, Kristin Halbrook wanted to be a writer, the President of the USA or the first female NFL quarterback. The first one stuck. Even when pursuing other dreams, she always took time to write, including stories for adults, teens, and children. She is the author of Nobody But Us (HarperTeen, 2013) and the forthcoming Every Last Promise (HarperTeen, April 2015). Surfacing is her new adult debut.

When she's not writing or reading, she's spending time with three pixies, her Mad Scot soulmate, and one grumpy cocker spaniel; traveling across oceans and time; cooking and baking up a storm; and watching waves crash and suns set on the beach. She currently lives, loves and explores in The Emerald City, though she occasionally makes wispy, dream-like plans to move to Paris or a Scottish castle one day (if just temporarily).
